The Tarka Trail. Smytham has its own access point on to this dedicated trail built for cycling and walking. Following the route of an old railway line, this 30 mile long trail winds through the peaceful Devon countryside and along the river Torridge, the home of Tarka the Otter.

Our dog exercise area. 3 acres of grassland which has been managed to encourage wild flowers and habitat for insects and small mammals.

Welcome to Reception and Smythies Bar. We have a small shop to supply your basic needs when camping. Opening times are posted on the door along with emergency contact numbers. Adjacent is a red telephone box equiped with pay phone.

There has been a Manor House on this site since 1066 as is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The present Manor House was rebuilt in the Georgian and Victorian periods, and is now a family home.
